Term 2: I like to move it!

Kia ora and welcome back to our blog! This term, our inquiry is...

G.Jacobson (2018)

This inquiry is going to focus on movement, forces, and flight. We will be scientists this term, asking questions and experimenting to find answers to our questions.

The term started off with our Immersion Assembly. In this assembly, each team presented an item to announce their take on the inquiry for the term.  Read our blogs later this week to find out what happened at the assembly!

Year 5 and 6 Camp 2018

Last week we had our annual Year 5 and 6 camp where we camped in tents on the school field. It was a great three days of camping, kayaking, swimming, competing, and working in teams! For many of the year 5s, it was a new experience sleeping in tents and being away from whānau for two nights.

We are all very thankful to our amazing parents and Pt England School whānau who took the time to help out in many ways - pitching tents, cooking, security, a trip to the Māngere pools, trips to the Glen Innes pools and many more 'behind-the-scenes' jobs which happened while we were busy with our camp activities.

Check out our blogs later on this week to see our writing about our experiences at camp!

The amazing Year 8 prefects helped out with teaching the Year 5s and 6s how to kayak.

Kaitiakitanga i ngā wā katoa - Respecting our Environment

We have begun this year thinking about how we can be Kaitiaki (Guardians) of our environment by showing respect and keeping our environment clean! As a school, we have begun a rotation where each day, a different team is responsible for ensuring the school is tidy and clean. We have noticed such a difference! There is so much less rubbish and we are able to enjoy and be proud of our beautiful school!

Here are some photos of us being Kaitiaki of our environment!
